The court returned the land of historical and cultural purpose in the Kyiv region to state ownership. This is reported by the Prosecutor General's Office.

In compliance with the court decision, based on the lawsuit of the Prosecutor General's Office, almost 14 hectares of historical and cultural land, on which the defensive fortification "Serpent's Wall" of the archaeological monument of national importance "Velyke Khodosivske" Hillfort" is located, were returned to state ownership.

"Prosecutors established the fact that the agricultural society illegally transferred part of the famous hillfort to private property. They reacted to the violations and inaction of the authorized state bodies. Defending the interests of the state, they filed a lawsuit with the court," the report states.

"Velyke Khodosivske" Hillfort is one of the giant settlements of the forest-steppe Ukraine of the middle of the 1st millennium BC, which is the property of the Ukrainian people and a unique source of information about its origin, formation, and development.

The ancient defensive structure "Serpent's Wall", created to protect the settlement of the Scythian period, continued to perform its functions during the period of Kyivan Rus and during the defense of the city of Kyiv in 1941. Centuries-old monuments help protect the state even now - during the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. According to the information of the Ukrainian military, such fortifications made it possible to stop the offensive of the invaders to the south of the Zhytomyr highway in March 2022.

На виконання рішення суду за позовом Офісу Генерального прокурора у державну власність повернуто майже 14 гектарів земель історико-культурного призначення, на яких розташоване оборонне укріплення "Змієві вали" пам’ятки археології національного значення "Городище "Велике Ходосівське".

"Прокурори встановили факт незаконного оформлення сільськогосподарським товариством частини славетного городища у приватну власність. Відреагували на порушення та бездіяльність уповноважених державних органів. Захищаючи інтереси держави, звернулися з позовною заявою до суду", - зазначається в повідомлені.

"Городище "Велике Ходосівське" – одне з городищ-гігантів лісостепової України середини І тисячоліття до нашої ери, яке є надбанням українського народу та невідтворним джерелом інформації про його зародження, формування, розвиток.

Стародавня оборонна споруда "Змієві вали", створена для захисту поселення Скіфського часу, продовжувала виконувати свої функції у період Київської Русі та під час оборони міста Києва в 1941 році. Багатовікові пам’ятки допомагають захищати державу і зараз – у ході збройної агресії російської федерації проти України. За інформацією українських військових, такі фортифікаційні споруди дали змогу зупинити наступ окупантів на південь від Житомирської траси у березні 2022 року.
