Oleksandr Tkachenko, the Minister of Culture and Information Policy, announced the beginning of the process of returning state property in the Pochaiv Holy Assumption Lavra in Ternopil Oblast.

He said this on the air of the national telethon, "Espresso. Zahid" reports.

"The head of the Pochaiv Lavra filed a lawsuit in court to return the church, with which the UOC (MP)'s contract for using the territory of the Lavra expired," - Tkachenko noted.

According to him, the priest in charge of the Pochaiv Lavra did not allow the representatives of the reserve to enter the church, in connection with which criminal proceedings should be opened regarding the obstruction of the use of state property.

"In this way, this process has started in the Pochaiv Lavra. There will also be some other processes regarding other institutions, where lease contracts or use contracts for well-known objects that belong to the historical heritage of Ukraine have ceased to operate," - the minister added.

"Керівником Почаївської лаври подано позов до суду щодо того, щоб повернули церкву, з якою закінчився договір користування УПЦ (МП) на території лаври", - зазначив Ткаченко.

За його словами, священик, який керує в Почаївській лаврі, не допустив представників заповідника до церкви, у зв'язку з чим має відкритися кримінальне провадження щодо перешкоджання користування майном держави.

"Таким чином у Почаївській лаврі цей процес розпочався. Також будуть і деякі інші процеси стосовно інших установ, де припинили діяти договори оренди або користування відомими об'єктами, які належать до історичної спадщини України", - додав міністр.
