In the new exhibition space, you can get acquainted with the history of the educational process in Volyn, learn more about the life of enthusiastic teachers and the specifics of creating handwritten books.

A new museum exposition "Schooling and Bookwriting in Volyn in the 11th-19th Centuries" was opened in the ethnopark "Ladomyria" in Radyvyliv, Rivne region. The interactive location, which presents the history of local education and the tradition of handwriting, also allows visitors to actively interact with history, the ethnopark administration reported on its official Facebook page.

The museum is located in an old Volyn hut of the 18th century, which was equipped with three thematic rooms. There is a 19th century school classroom with authentic desks, a blackboard and documents showing the educational process of that time. The room of a teacher - an enthusiastic educator who passed on knowledge to his students and collected artifacts from the history of education - has also been recreated. Scriptoria are presented - writing desks at which books were copied and decorated in the Middle Ages, with all the necessary tools for creating manuscripts.

"The museum offers not only to view the exhibits, but also to try yourself as a student or scribe: write with a quill pen, study calligraphy and Old Slavonic writing," the ethnopark administration emphasizes.

The authors of the project say that its preparation lasted more than 10 years. During this time, the team of the Volyn Research and Revival Center carefully studied the cultural heritage of the region - clothing, architecture, crafts, everyday life and education. The first stage of implementation was the opening of the museum location of the school classroom in 2024.

Нову музейну експозицію "Шкільництво та книгописання на Волині у ХІ–ХІХ століттях" відкрили в етнопарку "Ладомирія", що у Радивилові на Рівненщині. Інтерактивна локація, яка презентує історію місцевої освіти й традиції рукописання, також дозволяє відвідувачам активно взаємодіяти з історією, повідомляє адміністрація етнопарку на офіційній сторінці у Facebook.

Музей розмістився у старовинній волинській хаті XVIII століття, яку облаштували трьома тематичними кімнатами. Тут є шкільний клас XIX століття з автентичними партами, дошкою та документами, що показують навчальний процес того часу. Також відтворена кімната вчителя – педагога-ентузіаста, який передавав знання своїм учням і збирав артефакти з історії освіти. Представлені скрипторії – письмові столи, за якими переписували та оздоблювали книги в Середні віки, з усім необхідним набором інструментів для створення рукописів.

"Музей пропонує не тільки оглянути експонати, а й спробувати себе у ролі учня чи писаря: писати гусячим пером, вивчати каліграфію та старослов’янське письмо", – наголошують в адміністрації етнопарку.

Автори проєкту кажуть, що його підготовка тривала більше 10 років. Протягом цього часу команда Центру дослідження та відродження Волині ретельно вивчала культурну спадщину регіону – одяг, архітектуру, ремесла, побут та освіту. Першим етапом реалізації стало відкриття музейної локації шкільного класу в 2024 році.
