After replacing the Soviet coat of arms on the shield of the Motherland with the Ukrainian trident, a new stage of renovation of the entire memorial complex begins.

The National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War in Kyiv plans to dismantle all monuments and elements of Soviet propaganda in the near future. The high-relief "Battle of Kursk" will be the first to be removed from the exposition, the museum's administration reports on its official Facebook page.

"The existing exhibition space must get rid of the Soviet narrative, which for decades propagated the myth of the "Great Patriotic War". The process of rebuilding the architecture of the exhibition spaces has already begun. The high-relief "Battle of Kursk", a visual symbol of Bolshevik propaganda in monumental art, will be dismantled and will become part of the museum's fund collection. - said in the message.

The next significant step in the process of redefining the Museum in the administration was called the arrangement of the space of the entire complex.

"The plans include a maximum change of the architectural landscape: the dismantling of all monuments and elements of Soviet propaganda. The National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War is systematically, step-by-step and confidently moving towards its transformation into a place of memory, honoring and glorification of all fighters for freedom and independence the Ukrainian people and the state," the author of the message notes.

The museum's priority task is the construction of a permanent exhibition that will tell about the centuries of armed struggle of Ukrainians for freedom and independence.

We will remind that in August 2023, within the framework of the "Trident of the Motherland" project, the museum replaced the Soviet symbols on the shield of the sculpture of the Motherland with a trident, the symbol of the princely state of Volodymyr the Great.

Провести демонтаж усіх пам’ятників та елементів радянської пропаганди планує найближчим часом Національний музей історії України у Другій світовій війні у Києві. Першим з експозиції приберуть горельєф "Курська битва", повідомляє адміністрація музею на офіційній сторінці у Facebook.

"Наявний виставковий простір має позбутися радянського наративу, який десятки років пропагував міф "великої вітчизняної війни". Уже розпочався процес перебудови архітектури виставкових площ. Наочний символ більшовицької пропаганди в монументальному мистецтві горельєф "Курська битва" буде демонтований і стане частиною музейної фондової колекції", – сказано у повідомленні.

Наступним значним крок у процесі переозначення Музею в адміністрації назвали впорядкування простору всього комплексу. 

"У планах – максимальна зміна архітектурного ландшафту: демонтаж усіх пам’ятників та елементів радянської пропаганди. Національний музей історії України у Другій світовій війні планомірно, покроково й упевнено рухається до перевтілення в місце пам’яті, вшанування та глорифікації всіх борців за волю й незалежність українського народу та держави", – зазначають автор повідомлення.

Своїм пріоритетним завданням у музеї називають побудову стаціонарної експозиції, яка розповідатиме про століття збройної боротьби українців за свободу й незалежність. 

Нагадаємо, що в серпні 2023 року в межах проєкту "Тризуб Батьківщини" музей замінив радянську символіку на щиті скульптури Батьківщини-Матері на знак княжої держави Володимира Великого – тризуб.
