This became possible thanks to the opening of the bridge over the Desna River in the Chernihiv region. The Ministry of Hromadas Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine announced this on its Facebook page.

Now you can get from the regional center to the capital by a convenient road in 2 hours. Traffic is open in the first lane and all types of transport are allowed in both directions. The second passage is still under construction.

"The restoration of transport routes in Chernihiv Region is a necessary condition for the protection of our northern borders and the normalization of life in the hromada of Chernihiv Region. Since the deoccupation of the region in the spring of last year, 20 temporary crossings have already been installed, we are overhauling more than 10 bridges. We are also working on the restoration of critical infrastructure in the region. We strive to create all infrastructure conditions for Ukrainians to return home," commented Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine — Minister of Hromadas Development, Territories and Infrastructure.

The half-kilometer bridge across the Desna was destroyed at the start of a full-scale invasion. The lack of traffic through it forced drivers to spend twice as much time detouring on the road R-69 Kyiv - Vyshhorod - Desna - Chernihiv due to the destroyed crossings around Chernihiv.

Construction work on the restoration of the bridge started in the second half of 2022 after demining the territory and part of Desna.

The bridge reconstruction project is implemented by the State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

"Відновлення транспортних шляхів на Чернігівщині — необхідна умова для захисту наших північних рубежів та нормалізації життя в громадах Чернігівщини. З моменту деокупації області весною минулого року вже облаштували 20 тимчасових переправ, капітально ремонтуємо понад 10 мостів. Працюємо також над відновлення критичної інфраструктури в області. Прагнемо створити всі інфраструктурні умови для повернення українців додому", — прокоментував Олександр Кубраков, Віце-прем’єр-міністр з відновлення України — Міністр розвитку громад, територій та інфраструктури.

Півкілометровий міст через Десну був зруйнований на початку повномасштабного вторгнення. Відсутність руху через нього змушувала водіїв витрачати вдвічі більше часу на об’їзд дорогою Р-69 Київ – Вишгород – Десна – Чернігів через зруйновані переправи навколо Чернігова.

Будівельні роботи з відновлення мосту стартували в другій половині 2022 року після розмінування території та частини Десни.

Проєкт відбудови мосту реалізується Державне агентство відновлення та розвитку інфраструктури України.

Нагадаємо, внаслідок повномасштабного вторгнення росії на Чернігівщині було пошкоджено 680 кілометрів доріг державного значення та 27 мостів.
