One of the most popular locations for taking photos among the crocus thickets in the "Stare Selo" open-air museum is preparing for a tourist pilgrimage this coming weekend.
The mass flowering of Geifel's saffron (crocuses) has begun on the territory of the Museum of Architecture and Life "Stare Selo" in Kolochava in Transcarpathia. Photos of the lawns abundantly covered with flowers were posted on his Facebook page by an employee of the Kolochava open-air museum, local historian Yuriy Radivilov.
"Today is like this. God forbid that it will be sunny on the weekend," the local historian commented on the appearance of purple primroses among the wooden buildings of the open-air museum.
The open-air museum "Stare Selo" is one of the most popular places in the Carpathians, where in early spring you can see the mass flowering of crocuses, when the ground is covered with a real blanket of large purple flowers. Usually the first saffrons appear here in early March and bloom en masse until about the beginning of April.
"In Kolochava, the flower is carefully protected, and numerous tourists and villagers come to admire the delicate purple flowers and inhale the intoxicating aroma. The photos taken among such purple beauty are especially beautiful," says the tourist website of the village of Kolochava.
The museum is open daily from 09:00 to 19:00. Entrance fees: adult - 200 hryvnia, child - 100 hryvnia.
