The "Pylyp Orlyk Foundation" promises to provide financing for restoration work and the creation of a museum exhibition in the historical building.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine will join the restoration and creation of a museum in the old Kiev house in which the outstanding Ukrainian aircraft designer Ihor Sikorsky spent his childhood. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.

The neglected three-story building at 15-B Yaroslaviv Val Street was built in 1904 on the territory of the estate, which had belonged to the Sikorsky family since 1885. In Soviet times, there was a military hotel here. Currently, the monument is on the balance sheet of the State Enterprise "Central Design Institute", which is part of the Ministry of Defense.

"In early January, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine signed a memorandum of cooperation with the public organization "Pylyp Orlyk Foundation" to join efforts to preserve a cultural heritage monument - the house in which the outstanding aircraft designer Ihor Sikorsky lived with his family," the report says.

The memorandum stipulates that the "Pylyp Orlyk Foundation" will provide funding for restoration work and the creation of a museum in this house.

The house in which the outstanding aircraft designer Ihor Sikorsky lived with his family is a cultural heritage monument, included by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 01/25/2018 No. 32 in the List of Cultural Heritage Sites of National Importance, and has a protection number 260087.

Міністерство оборони України долучиться до реставраврації та створення музею в старовинному київському будинку, в якому провів дитинство видатний український авіаконструктор Ігор Сікорський. Про це повідомляє пресслужба Міноборони.

Занедбана триповерхова будівля по вулиці Ярославів Вал, 15-Б зведена у 1904 році на території садиби, яка з 1885 року належала родині Сікорських. За радянських часів тут був військовий готель. Зараз пам’ятка перебуває на балансі ДП "Центральний проектний інститут", яке входить до сфери управління Міноборони.

"На початку січня Міністерство оборони України підписало з громадською організацією "Фундація Пилипа Орлика" меморандум про співпрацю щодо об’єднання зусиль для збереження пам’ятки культурної спадщини – будинку, в якому мешкав видатний авіаконструктор Ігор Сікорський разом із родиною", – йдеться у повідомленні.

Меморандум передбачає, що "Фундація Пилипа Орлика" забезпечить фінансування реставраційних робіт та створення музею у цьому будинку.

Будинок, в якому мешкав видатний авіаконструктор Ігор Сікорський з родиною – пам’ятка культурної спадщини, внесена постановою Кабінету Міністрів України від 25.01.2018 №32 до Переліку об’єктів культурної спадщини національного значення, та має охоронний номер 260087.
