The "Khortytsia" reserve presented unique finds of the Bronze Age and Cossacks

In the exhibition space of the "City on the Thresholds" Museum Studio an updated exhibition of artifacts was opened, which were found during the survey of the washed-up areas of the coast of the Dnipro River, which appeared as a result of the Russian aggressor undermining the Kakhovskaya HPP dam. This is reported by the "Khortytsia" National Reserve on its official website.

About 80 artifacts representing different historical periods from the Bronze Age, the Scythian Age, the Middle Ages to the Cossack period are presented in three display cases: fragments of molded ware and ancient Greek amphorae, a Bronze Age dagger, stone tools (grinder, millstone, grain grater), sling stone, vorvarkas, arrowheads, items of Cossack-era weapons (fucile muzzle, flint for rifle locks, bullets), a fragment of a mirror, a bracelet, a blacksmith's hammer, etc.

"All these exhibits, especially the ceramic material of antiquity during the Scythian era, testify to the ancient and stormy life in the lower reaches of the Dnieper, the intense civilizational contacts of our ancestors, which refutes the old Russian-Soviet historical narratives about the "wild field" that began to populate and develop only with the participation of the Russian state," the message said.

After Russian troops blew up the dam of the Kakhovska HPP, a group of searchers was formed, consisting of military personnel who, before the war, worked in museums and institutions for the protection of cultural heritage. Among them were representatives of the "Khortytsia" National Reserve. Thus, with the assistance of the Defense Forces, areas of great historical and archaeological value were surveyed. All finds were processed and recorded, some of which are presented in the "City on the Thresholds" Museum Studio.

The exhibition will be open until mid-April.

У виставковому просторі Музейні студії "Місто за порогами" відкрилася оновлена виставка артефактів, які були знайдені під час обстеження обмілілих ділянок узбережжя річки Дніпро, що з’явилися внаслідок підриву російським агресором греблі Каховської ГЕС. Про це повідомляє Національний заповідник Хортиця на офіційному сайті.

У трьох експозиційних вітринах демонструється близько 80 артефактів, які представляють різні історичні періоди від доби бронзи, скіфської доби, середньовіччя до козаччини: фрагменти ліпного посуду та давньогрецьких амфор, кинджал доби бронзи, кам’яні знаряддя праці (розтиральник, жорно, зернотерка), пращовий камінь, ворварки, вістря стріл, предмети озброєння козацького часу (дульна частина фузеї, кремінь для рушничних замків, кулі), фрагмент люстерка, браслет, ковальський молот тощо.

"Всі ці експонати, особливо керамічний матеріал античності за часів скіфської доби, засвідчують давнє і бурхливе життя в понизов’ї Дніпра, інтенсивні цивілізаційні контакти наших пращурів, що спростовує старі російсько-радянські історичні наративи про "дике поле", яке почало залюднюватися і розвиватися лише за участі російської держави", – сказано в повідомленні.

Після підриву російськими військами греблі Каховської ГЕС була сформована група пошуковців, що складалась з військовослужбовців, які до війни працювали в музеях та закладах охорони культурної спадщини. Серед них були і представники Національного заповідника "Хортиця". Таким чином, за сприяння Сил Оборони, були обстежені ділянки, які становлять велику історичну та археологічну цінність. Всі знахідки були опрацьовані та поставлені на облік,  частина з яких і представлена в Музейних студіях "Місто за порогами".

Виставка працюватиме до середини квітня.
