The long-standing dream of Ivan Samotos about a workshop-museum was realized at the initiative of relatives of the People's Artist of Ukraine, who for a long time lived in his parents' house in the village of Ustia.

The memorial homestead-museum of the outstanding Ukrainian sculptor Ivan Samotos was opened in the family home of the artist in the village of Ustia of the Mykolaiv hromada, in the Lviv region. On the eve of the opening, the team of the newly established museum carried out repair work in the building and beautification of the territory.

As the press service of the Mykolayiv City Council reports, the museum's exposition presents the authentic life in which Ivan Samotos lived and worked, interesting photos from his lifetime, and personal items. The exhibition also contains the sculptor's original works.

"The creative work of the People's Artist of Ukraine includes more than two hundred works, more than 60 exhibitions, dozens of monuments, monuments, figures, figurative compositions, busts, portraits, memorial tables not only in Ukraine, but also in France, Bulgaria, and Poland. Among the famous works: monuments to Taras Shevchenko (city of Sosnivka, Lviv region; city of Beltsy, Moldova), victims of the Zamarstiniv prison (Lviv), soldiers of the Ukrainian People's Republic (city of Vezin-Chalet, France). His authorship includes the "Victory" monument in Stryi, monument to Vyacheslav Chornovil in Lviv," the city council reminds.

It was previously reported that the initiators of the realization of Ivan Samotos' long-standing dream of a museum-workshop were his wife Oksana and daughter Natalia, who now live in Germany.

Меморіальний музей-садибу видатного українського скульптора Івана Самотоса відкрили у родинній домівці митця в селі Устя Миколаївської громади, що на Львівщині. Напередодні відкриття колектив новоствореного музею провів у будинку ремонтні роботи та благоустрій території.

Як повідомляє пресслужба Миколаївської міської ради, експозиція музею презентує автентичний побут, в якому жив та працював Іван Самотос, цікаві прижиттєві фото, особисті предмети. Також експозиція містить авторські роботи скульптора.

"У творчому доробку народного художника України – понад двісті творів, понад 60 виставок, десятки пам’ятників, монументів, фігур, фігурних композицій, бюстів, портретів, меморіальних таблиць не лише в Україні, а й у Франції, Болгарії, Польщі. Серед відомих робіт: пам’ятники Тарасові Шевченку (місто Соснівка, Львівська область; місто Бельци, Молдова), Жертвам Замарстинівської в’язниці (Львів), воякам УНР (місто Везін-Шалет, Франція). Його авторству належать монумент "Перемога" у Стрию, пам’ятник В’ячеславу Чорноволу у Львові", – нагадують у міськраді.

Раніше повідомлялося, що ініціаторами втілення давньої мрії Івана Самотоса про музей-майстерню стали його дружина Оксана та донька Наталя, які зараз мешкають у Німеччині.
