Bronze figures of Ostap Bender, Kisa Vorobyaninov and Ellochka the Cannibal have stood on Yaroslav the Wise Street in the center of Kharkiv since the mid-2000s.

As part of decolonization, sculptures of characters from the novel "12 Chairs" by Russian writers Ilf and Petrov were dismantled in Kharkiv. This was reported by the public organization "Decolonization. Ukraine" on social networks.

Bronze sculptures of characters from the satirical novel - Ostap Bender, Kisa Vorobyaninov and Ella Shchukina - were installed on Yaroslav the Wise Street in Kharkiv from 2003 to 2006. The first two sculptures were made by Eldaniz Gurbanov, the author of the third was Katib Mamedov.

The satirical novel "12 Chairs", published in 1928, depicts life in the USSR during the NEP. The work was translated into Ukrainian in 1972. Its authors are Ilya Ilf and Yevhen Petrov, Russian writers born in Odessa.

"Union of Volunteers of Odesa" reminds that Ilf took part in the formation of pro-detachments, and Petrov, also known as Kataev, served in criminal investigation, which is a formal reason for decommunization.

Meanwhile, Oleh Kiper, the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, signed an order to dismantle the monument to the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, which was installed on Birzhova Square in Odesa. The city council informed that permission from UNESCO must be obtained for this.

В межах деколонізації у Харкові демонтували скульптури персонажів роману "12 стільців" російських письменників Ільфа та Петрова. Про це повідомила у соцмережах громадська організація "Деколонізація. Україна".

Бронзові скульптури персонажів сатиричного роману – Остапа Бендера, Кіси Вороб'янінова та Елли Щукіної були встановлені на вулиці Ярослава Мудрого в Харкові з 2003 по 2006 рік. Перші дві скульптури зробив Ельданіз Гурбанов, автором третьої був Катіб Мамедов.

Сатиричний роман "12 стільців", надрукований у 1928 році, змальовує життя в СРСР у часи НЕПу. Твір перекладено українською 1972 року. Його автори – Ілля Ільф та Євген Петров – російські письменники, уродженці Одеси. 

"Об'єднання добровольців Одещини" нагадує, що Ільф брав участь у формуванні продзагонів, а Петров, він же Катаєв, служив у карному розшуку, що є формальною причиною для декомунізації.

Тим часом головва Одеської обласної військової адміністрації Олег Кіпер підписав розпорядження про демонтаж пам'ятника російському поету Олександру Пушкіну, встановлений на Біржовій площі Одеси. У міськраді повідомили, що для цього ще треба отримати дозвіл ЮНЕСКО.
