Odesa National Art Museum was damaged by a Russian missile attack

On the evening of November 5, Odesa was attacked by the enemy. As a result of the impact of the Onyx and Iskander-M missiles, the historic center of the city was damaged, in particular, the Odesa National Art Museum, which is part of the UNESCO world heritage. In the museum, the walls were damaged, windows and glass were broken, and the high-pressure water pipe was damaged.

The museum administration announced this on its Facebook page. "The Odesa Art Gallery is closed. We are rescheduling all events and canceling the Free Entrance Day, as we planned. We will inform you about the update on our social networks. We are very glad that there are no victims and such solidarity of the community, and there is no need to come to the museum tomorrow, because the process is ongoing damage assessments, fixing the consequences of the damage and investigative actions, everything should remain intact," the statement said.

The Odesa National Art Museum is located in a historic building from the beginning of the 19th century, known as the Potoski-Naryshkin Palace, which was built in 1823-1826 by Countess Olha Potoska (married to Naryshkin), daughter of Stanislav and Sofiya Potoski. In 1888, the Odesa mayor Hryhoriy Hryhorovych Marazli, a well-known public figure and philanthropist, bought the palace, and in 1892 he gave the palace to the city for the purpose of creating a fine arts museum in it.

Today, the museum's collection includes art objects from the 16th to the 21st century, including works by modern Ukrainian artists.

As a result of the missile attack by the Russians, seven exhibitions of contemporary artists from Odesa, Lviv and Kharkiv were damaged, including:
  • Margit and Roman Selsky "Sunset / Sol occidens" from the collection of Eduard Dymshits;
  • the exhibition of the fallen soldier Boris Eisenberg, who painted on the front line, "Flowers behind the dumps";
  • the works of Oleksandr Grekhov;
  • Stas Zhalobniuk "Black Sea";
  • "Joy" by Volodymyr Semkiv;
  • Albina Yaloza "The Altar of the Heavenly Host";
  • Kinder Album "Large meadows, abundant grass";

The Odesa Art Museum has previously been closed for a week in order to carry out all the necessary actions by the Commission for the Survey of Cultural Heritage Objects.

Ввечері 5 листопада Одеса зазнала ворожої атаки. Внаслідок удару ракетами "Онікс" та "Іскандер-М" постраждав історичний центр міста, зокрема, Одеський національний художній музей, який є частиною світової спадщини ЮНЕСКО. У музеї пошкоджено стіни, вибито шибки та скло, пошкоджений водогін високого тиску.

Про це на своїй сторінці в Facebook повідомила адміністрація музею. "Одеський художній зачинено. Переносимо всі події та відміняємо Free Entrance Day, як ми планували. Про оновлення будемо повідомляти у наших соціальних мережах. Ми дуже раді, що немає постраждалих і такій згуртованості спільноти, та завтра приходити до музею немає необхідності, адже триває процес оцінки пошкоджень, фіксація наслідків ураження та слідчі дії, все має залишатися недоторканим", - йдеться у повідомлені.

Одеський Національний художній музей разташований в історичній будівлі початку 19 століття, яка відома як палац Потоцьких-Наришкіних, який збудувала у 1823-1826 роках графиня Ольга Потоцька (у шлюбі Наришкіна), донька Станіслава та Софії Потоцьких. У 1888 році палац придбав одеський міський голова Григорій Григорович Маразлі — відомий громадський діяч та меценат, а у 1892 році він передав палац місту з метою створення в ньому музею витончених мистецтв.

Сьогодні колекція музею нараховує предмети мистецтва від 16 і до 21 століття, зокрема, і роботи сучасних українских художників.

Внаслідок ракетного удару росіянами постраждало сім виставок сучасних митців з Одеси, Львова та Харкова, серед яких:
 • Марґіт та Романа Сельських "Сонце заходу / Sol occidens" з колекції Едуарда Димшица;
 • виставка загиблого військового Бориса Айзенберга, який малював на передовій, "Квіти за відвалами";
 • роботи Олександра Грехова;
 • Стаса Жалобнюка "Black Sea";
 • Володимира Семківа "Радість";
 • Альбіни Ялози "Вівтар небесного війська";
 • Kinder Album "Великі луги, рясні трави";

Попередньо Одеський художній музей зачинено на тиждень для проведення всіх необхідних дій Комісією з обстеження обʼєктів культурної спадщини.
