"City and Weapons": a digital museum was launched in the Ivano-Frankivsk Potocki Palace

The interactive museum "City and Weapons" opened in the premises of the Potocki Palace in Ivano-Frankivsk. It was located in the former administrative building of the garrison hospital, which used to operate on the territory of the palace complex, the KP "Palace Innovative Creations Space" reported.

"The start of the museum space was timed to celebrate the 362nd anniversary of the founding of the city. Actually, it was expected to open much sooner, but, unfortunately, the implementation was first slowed down by the covid pandemic, and then by the full-scale Russian invasion. Thank you to everyone involved for working on this a project that, in fact, is the "first swallow" on the way to the return to life of the palace buildings," said the mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk, Ruslan Martsynkiv, during the opening of the museum.

According to Volodymyr Haidar, the director of the KP "Palace Innovative Creations Space", the museum exposition reveals the theme of the life of the city during the wars: from the foundation of the Potocki family, through the First and Second World Wars.

"Now our museum tells the history of weapons in the context of the development of the city. Each period presents replicas of the most famous types of weapons in real and digital forms. Of the real ones, there are exact replicas of weapons: a pistol that was ignited by a silicon igniter; archival maps, etc. are virtual. There are dynamic animations, slideshows that represent each of the periods. On the mannequins at the entrance there are exact copies of the uniforms of the Potocki private army, soldiers of the UGA and UPA. Some artifacts of the uniforms are original, some were reproduced by reenactors who worked, in particular, on the costumes for the film "Dovbush", said Volodymyr Haidar.

According to the director, building Ж of the former Potocki Palace was restored to arrange the exposition. In particular, the walls, roof, parquet floor, windows and doors were restored. The premises are planned for a museum and exhibition function (entrance area, reception with administration, wardrobe, bathrooms, universal exhibition space). At the entrance to the museum, there is a ramp for barrier-free access for people with limited mobility.

In the future, it is planned to add an exhibition about the ideal cities of Europe and Stanislaviv's place among them, a genealogical museum of the Potocki family, a museum of the "Palace-Hospital" complex, a museum of the history and archeology of the city to the virtual museum space on the basis of building Ж.

Currently, the "City and Weapons" museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday, inclusive, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Інтерактивний музей "Місто і зброя" відкрився у приміщеннях палацу Потоцьких в Івано-Франківську. Він розташувався в колишньому адміністративному корпусі гарнізонної лікарні, що діяла раніше на території палацового комплексу, повідомили в КП "Простір інноваційних креацій Палац".

"Старт роботи музейного простору приурочили до відзначення 362-ї річниці з часу заснування міста. Власне, очікували його відкриття набагато скоріше, але, на жаль, реалізацію спочатку уповільнила пандемія ковіду, а потім – повномасштабне російське вторгнення. Дякую всім дотичним за роботу над цим проєктом, який, фактично, є "першою ластівкою" на шляху до повернення до життя палацових споруд", – сказав міський голова Івано-Франківська Руслан Марцінків під час відкриття музею.

За словами директора КП "Простір інноваційних креацій Палац" Володимира Гайдара, експозиція музею розкриває тему життя міста в часи воєн: від заснування Потоцькими, через Першу та Другу світові війни.

"Зараз наш музей розповідає історію зброї в контексті розвитку міста. У кожному періоді представлені репліки найбільш відомих видів озброєння в натурному і в цифровому виглядах. З реальних є точні репліки зброї: пістолет, який запалювався кремнієвим запальником; бартка; шабля; найбільш поширена рушниця – малінхерка тощо. Віртуальними є архівні картографічні відтворення: давні поштівки, карти, відеоматеріали. Є динамічні анімації, слайдшоу, які представляють кожен з періодів. Деякі цифрові речі виконані з допомогою штучного інтелекту. На манекенах при вході представлені точні копії одностроїв різних періодів: приватної армії Потоцького, воїнів УГА та УПА. Деякі артефакти одностроїв оригінальні, деякі – відтворені реконструкторами, що працювали, зокрема, над костюмами для фільму "Довбуш", – розповів Володимир Гайдар.

За інформацією директора, для облаштування експозиції була проведена реставрація корпусу Ж колишнього палацу Потоцьких. Зокрема, відреставровано стіни, дах, паркетну підлогу, вікна і двері. Приміщення розплановані під музейно-виставкову функцію (вхідна зона, рецепція з адміністрацією, гардероб, санвузли, універсальний експозиційний простір). На вході в музейний простір передбачено пандус для безбар’єрного доступу маломобільних груп населення.

В подальшому до віртуального музейного простору на базі корпусу Ж планують додати експозицію про ідеальні міста Європи та місце Станіславова серед них, генеалогічний музей роду Потоцьких, музей комплексу "Палац-шпиталь", музей історії та археології міста.

Наразі музей "Місто і зброя" працює з вівторка по неділю включно, з 10:00 до 17:00.
