Participants of the historical reconstruction club will recreate the atmosphere of the legend about the military cunning of the defenders of ancient Bilhorod, and festival guests will be treated to a sweet, thick drink.

The first historical festival "Bilohorodskyi Kissel" will be held on Saturday, September 13 in the village of Bilohorodka, Kyiv region. It will be a bright holiday with a colorful fair and master classes, the culture department of the Bilohorodka village council reports on its official Facebook page.

"The history and traditions of our region, delicious kissel and culinary delights, concerts and performances, master classes for children and adults, entertainment for the whole family are waiting for you," the culture department announces.

The musical guest of the festival will be the ethnic group "Balamuty" (violin, dulcimer, sopilka, basolya and bukhalo), which performs folk music and dances. The atmosphere of the Ukrainian Middle Ages will be created by participants of the Atira Ruthenia Historical Fencing and Reenactment Club. The festival site will feature a free duel arena, historical maneuvers in formation, a shooting range, an exhibition of medieval weapons and armor, a thematic photo zone, medieval dances, a presentation of woodworking, and a master class on candle making.

The festival is dedicated to the ancient legend of "Bilohorodskyi Kissel", which is recorded in the chronicle. It tells the story of how the inhabitants of Ancient Bilhorod, during a long siege of the city by the Pechenegs, hid honey and kissel in two wells and invited the enemy to negotiations. Seeing that the earth itself was feeding the defenders, and the Bilhorodites could hold out for a long time, the Pechenegs retreated. This story was described in 997 by Nestor the Chronicler in "The Tale of Bygone Years".

The festival will be held at the summer stage of the House of Culture (Bilohorodka village, Volodymyrska Street, 60A). The event will start at 2:00 p.m. Admission is free.

Перший історичний фестиваль "Білогородський кисіль" відбудеться в суботу, 13 вересня в селі Білогородка Київської області. Це буде яскраве свято з колоритним ярмарком та майстеркласами, повідомляє відділ культури Білогородської сільської ради на офіційній сторінці у Facebook.

"На вас чекають історія і традиції нашого краю, смачний кисіль і кулінарні родзинки, концерти та виступи, майстеркласи для дітей і дорослих, розваги для всієї родини", – анонсують у відділі культури.

Музичним гостем фестивалю буде етногурт "Баламути" (скрипка, цимбали, сопілка, басоля та бухало), що виконує народну музику і танці. Атмосферу українського середньовіччя створюватимуть учасники Клубу історичного фехтування і реконструкції Atira Ruthenia. На фестивальному майданчику буде ристалище вільних двобоїв, історичні маневри в строю, лучний тир, виставка середньовічної зброї та обладунків, тематична фотозона, середньовічні танці, презентація деревообробки, майстерклас із виготовлення свічок.

Фестиваль присвячений давній легенді про "Білгородський кисіль", яка зафіксована в літописі. Вона оповідає про те, як мешканці Давнього Білгорода під час тривалої облоги міста печенігами сховали в двох криницях мед і кисіль та запросили ворога на переговори. Побачивши, що нібито сама земля годує оборонців, і білгородці можуть протриматися ще довго, печеніги відступили. Ця історія описана в 997 році Нестором Літописцем у "Повісті минулих літ".

Місцем проведення фестивалю буде літня сцена Будинку культури (село Білогородка, вулиця Володимирська, 60А). Початок дійства – о 14:00. Вхід вільний.
