Christmas in Lviv 2025-2026: the entire program of events

A traditional New Year's program of events is being prepared in Lviv for the Christmas holidays of 2025-2026. No loud celebrations are planned in the city, but the planned events will provide an opportunity to feel family warmth, comfort and care, the press service of the Lviv City Council reports.

The Christmas period in the city of Lviv will traditionally begin with the opening of the Main Christmas tree of Lviv, which this year will take place on December 5 at 6:00 p.m. The tree will stand on the square near the Opera House. Since 2022, the New Year tree has been crowned with an anti-tank "hedgehog", which was made by specialists from the Lvivelectrotrans utility company.

From December 6 to January 10, the Christmas Post Office will be open in the Bandinelli Palace (2 Rynok Square). In the 17th century, a classic European-style post office operated in this building. This year, the Christmas Post Office will become the second place to send Christmas greetings to any corner of the world. Original postcards created by artists specifically for the Christmas Post Office will be available for purchase for donations, which will be used to support our defenders undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at the UNBROKEN center. Guests will also be able to view an exhibition of postcards by Olena Kulchytska and attend Christmas master classes.

"During the Christmas period, the Stargazer Race will take place, a small Christmas fair will be held near the "Pstruh, Hlib i Vyno" restaurant, and the Donut and Mulled Wine Festival will be held. There will also be a new offer for Lviv residents and guests - the "Park of Lanterns". In general, all events will take place from the beginning of December to January 10," said Khrystyna Lebed, head of the tourism department of the Lviv City Council.

The full program of Christmas and New Year holidays in Lviv 2025-2026:

December 5, 6:00 PM - opening of the Main Christmas Tree of Lviv (Svobody Avenue, near the Opera House).

From December 5 to January 25, the "Park of Lanterns" will operate in the Bohdan Khmelnytsky Park of Culture and Recreation. You can see large-scale light installations of fairies, elves and dragons, created by hand from 50,000 lanterns, natural silk and LED lamps, every day from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

On December 6 and 7, the "Christmas Star" fair from "Tlum & Kram" will be held in the KIVSH creative space (Shevchenko Street, 120g). Guests will be greeted by a cozy Christmas atmosphere and a real space of inspiration: a craft, vintage and art fair, meetings and conversations with Ukrainian creators, favorite holiday melodies, master classes, a food court, photo zones, good deeds and New Year's mood.

On December 7, at 5:00 PM, the Bethlehem Fire will be lit at the Field of Honorary Burials.

On December 19, the City Christmas Shopka will open near the Lviv City Hall at 1 Rynok Square, which has already become a highlight of the city. More than 10 years ago, it was made by Anton Lubiy, a master woodworker, soloist of the band "Yoryi Kliots", who is currently defending Ukraine. For the third year in a row, Anton's brother Danylo, a student at the Lviv Academy of Arts, has been helping to restore this shopka. The scene of the shopka consists of seven two-meter figures carved from poplar, which were painted by children from Lviv, there is also a cradle with a baby Jesus and angels on the facade of the shopka.

On December 24, the Main Didukh will be installed on Angels Square, in front of the Garrison Church. The four-meter Christmas symbol is updated every year by the masters of the Klymentiy Sheptytsky Museum of Folk Architecture and Life, so that during the holidays it will delight the residents and guests of Lviv. The opening of the Didukh in Lviv traditionally begins with a procession from the City Hall.

On December 25 at 1:00 PM, Lviv will honor all those who were unable to celebrate with us with a Sorrowful Carol. The commemoration will take place on the Field of Honorable Burials. The event will be accompanied by the singing of the "Homin" choir.

From December 25 to 28, Lviv residents are invited to the Donut and Mulled Wine Festival at the Lviv Art Palace (17 Kopernyka Street). Guests will be treated to a fair with a variety of aromatic doughnuts, warming mulled wines, and the unique atmosphere of a truly festive Lviv.

From December 25 to January 7, a Christmas fair will be held near "Pstruh", located on Brativ Rohatyntsiv Street, 49.

On December 26, citizens are invited to "Caroling on Valova" by the public organization "Alarm", created on the basis of the Lviv branch of "Plast". The caroling and charity fair will be held in the park on the corner of Valovaya and Serbska Streets. You can join the celebration throughout the day from 12:00 to 23:00.

On December 27, a unique event will take place in the central part of the city - the Star-Bearers Race. The organizers kindly invite you to join with your star. The start will be in the courtyard of the Town Hall, on Rynok Square, 1.

On December 28, at 12:30, the annual procession of star-bearers "Spalakh Rizdvianykh Zvizd" will take place. This year, the festival celebrates its 20th anniversary. The procession starts at Muzeina Square, 1.

The Christmas period will end on January 6, on Epiphany. Traditionally, a city-wide blessing of water will take place on Rynok Square.

На різдвяні свята 2025-2026 року у Львові готують традиційну новорічну програму заходів. Гучних святкувань у місті не планують, але заплановані події дадуть можливість відчути родинне тепло, затишок і турботу, повідомляє пресслужба Львівської міської ради.

Різдвяний період у місті Лева традиційно розпочнеться з відкриття Головної ялинки Львова, яке цьогоріч відбудеться 5 грудня о 18:00. Ялинка стоятиме на площі біля Оперного театру. З 2022 року новорічне дерево увінчує протитанковий "їжак", який виготовили фахівці комунального підприємства "Львівелектротранс".

З 6 грудня до 10 січня у палаці Бандінеллі діятиме Різдвяна пошта (площа Ринок, 2). У XVII столітті в цій будівлі діяла класична пошта європейського зразка. Цьогоріч Різдвяна пошта вдруге стане місцем відправлення різдвяних вітань у будь-який куточок світу. Оригінальні листівки, створені митцями спеціально для Різдвяної пошти, можна буде придбати за донати, які будуть спрямовані на підтримку наших захисників і захисниць, які проходять лікування та реабілітацію у центрі UNBROKEN. Також гості зможуть оглянути експозицію листівок Олени Кульчицької і відвідати різдвяні майстеркласи. 

"Впродовж різдвяного періоду відбудеться Забіг звіздарів, діятиме невеликий різдвяний ярмарок біля ресторану "Пструг, хліб та вино", пройде Фестиваль пампуха та глінтвейну. Також буде нова пропозиція для львів’ян та гостей – "Парк ліхтарів". Загалом усі події відбуватимуться з початку грудня до 10 січня", – розповіла начальниця управління туризму Львівської міської ради Христина Лебедь.

Повна програма різдвяних та новорічних свят у Львові 2025-2026:

5 грудня, 18:00 – відкриття Головної ялинки Львова (проспект Свободи, біля Оперного театру).

З 5 грудня по 25 січня у Парку культури та відпочинку імені Богдана Хмельницького діятиме "Парк ліхтарів". Побачити масштабні світлові інсталяції фей, ельфів та драконів, створені вручну з 50 000 ліхтариків, натурального шовку та LED-ламп, можна буде щодня з 16:00 до 22:00.

6 та 7 грудня триватиме ярмарок "Зірка Різдва" від "Тлум і Крам", який відбудеться у креативному просторі KIVSH (вулиця Шевченка, 120г). На гостей чекатиме затишна різдвяна атмосфера та справжній простір натхнення: ярмарок крафту, вінтажу й мистецтва, зустрічі та розмови з українськими творцями, улюблені святкові мелодії, майстеркласи, фудкорт, фотозони, добрі справи й новорічний настрій.

7 грудня о 17:00 на Полі почесних поховань запалять Вифлеємський вогонь.

19 грудня перед входом у Львівську ратушу на площі Ринок, 1 відкриють Міську різдвяну шопку, яка вже стала родзинкою для міста. Понад 10 років тому її зробив Антон Лубій – майстер роботи по дереву, соліст гурту "Йорий Кльоц", який зараз захищає Україну. Вже третій рік поспіль цю шопку допомагає реставрувати рідний брат Антона Данило, студент Львівської академії мистецтв. Сценка шопки складається із семи двометрових фігур, вирізьблених із тополі, які розмальовували діти зі Львова, також є колиска з маленьким Ісусиком і ангеликами на фасаді шопки.

24 грудня на площі Ангелів, перед Гарнізонним храмом, встановлять Головного дідуха. Чотириметровий різдвяний символ щороку оновлюють майстри Музею народної архітектури та побуту імені Климентія Шептицького, щоб впродовж свят він радував мешканців і гостей Львова. Відкриття дідуха у Львові традиційно розпочинається ходою від міської Ратуші. 

25 грудня о 13:00 Львів вшановуватиме усіх, хто не зміг святкувати з нами, Скорботною колядою. Вшанування відбудеться на Полі почесних поховань. Супроводжуватиме подію спів хору "Гомін".

З 25 по 28 грудня у Львівському палаці мистецтв (вулиця Коперника, 17) львів’ян запрошують на Фестиваль пампуха та глінтвейну. На гостей чекатиме ярмарок із різноманітними ароматними пампушками, зігріваючими глінтвейнами та неповторною атмосферою справжнього святкового Львова. 

З 25 грудня по 7 січня відбудеться різдвяний ярмарок біля "Пструга", що на вулиці Братів Рогатинців, 49. 

26 грудня містян запрошують на "Коляду на Валовій" від громадської організації "Алярм", створеної на базі Львівського осередку "Пласту". Коляда та благодійний ярмарок відбудеться в сквері на розі вулиць Валової та Сербської. Приєднатися до святкування можна буде протягом дня з 12.00 до 23.00 години. 

27 грудня в центральній частині міста відбудеться унікальна подія – Забіг Звіздарів. Організатори ласково запрошують долучатися із своєї зіркою. Старт відбудеться у дворику Ратуші, на площі Ринок, 1. 

28 грудня о 12:30 відбудеться щорічна хода звіздарів "Спалах різдвяних звізд". Цьогоріч фестиваль відзначає своє 20-річчя. Старт ходи – на площі Музейній, 1. 

Завершиться різдвяний період 6 січня, на Водохреща. Традиційно відбудеться загальноміське освячення води на площі Ринок.
