The Pyrohov Museum in Vinnytsia has become accessible to visitors with reduced mobility

The main premises of the Mykola Pyrohov National Museum-Estate in Vinnytsia were equipped with a lift for the convenience of people with reduced mobility. This was reported by the press service of the Vinnytsia City Council.

On March 6, the museum held the first excursion for defenders who are in Vinnytsia for prosthetics and rehabilitation. With the help of a lift, they were able to independently get to the house in which the outstanding scientist and creator of military field surgery Mykola Pyrohov lived and worked for the last 20 years of his life, and where an exposition about his life and activities is now located.

"Prior to that, visitors in wheelchairs could move freely only on the territory of the memorial park. And to get to the halls of the museum they were helped by the employees of the institution, because there are eight high steps," the press service notes.

Now a lifting platform with a load capacity of 150 kilograms has been installed on the stairs. You can easily enter it, or enter it in a wheelchair, lower the handrails and press the "up" or "down" buttons. When the lift is not used, the platform is raised against the wall.

The lift was ordered from Dnipro. Funds for it - 175 thousand hryvnias - were allocated from the budget of the Vinnytsia city-territorial community. The museum paid for its transportation and installation, so the total cost was almost 225 thousand hryvnias.

The space inside the museum has also become barrier-free for visitors with limited mobility. There, thresholds were removed, and furniture with soft seats was installed in the halls, on which you can rest.

"We have one more object that needs a lift - it's a descent to the church-necropolis, where the embalmed body of Mykola Ivanovych Pyrohov rests. For this, we need almost 250 thousand hryvnias, so we are still looking for sponsors who can help us", - Oleksandr Turskyi, director of the museum, said.

At the end of the excursion, the participants visited the museum-pharmacy on the territory of the manor, where they were given exclusive gifts - herbal teas according to Pyrohov's recipes. They are still planned to be given to military personnel free of charge, while other visitors can purchase them, especially since the selection of teas is very large - 23 varieties.

6 березня в музеї провели першу екскурсію для захисників, які перебувають у Вінниці на протезуванні і реабілітації. За допомогою підйомника вони змогли самостійно потрапити до будинку, в якому протягом останніх 20 років свого життя мешкав і працював видатний вчений і творець воєнно-польової хірургії Микола Іванович Пирогов, і де нині розміщена експозиція про його життя та діяльність.

"До цього на колісних кріслах відвідувачі безперешкодно могли пересуватися лише територією меморіального парку. А потрапити до залів музею їм допомагали працівники закладу, бо там – вісім високих сходинок", – відзначають у пресслужбі.

Тепер на сходах встановили підіймальну платформу вантажопідйомністю 150 кілограмів. На неї можна легко зайти, або ж заїхати у колісному кріслі, опустити поручні і затиснути кнопки "вгору" або "вниз". Коли ж підйомником не користуються, платформу піднімають до стіни.

Безперешкодним для маломобільних відвідувачів став і простір всередині музею. Там прибрали пороги, а у залах встановили меблі з м’якими сидіннями, на яких можна перепочити.

"В нас є ще один об’єкт, де потрібен підйомник – це спуск у церкві-некрополі, де покоїться забальзамоване тіло Миколи Івановича Пирогова. Для цього необхідно майже 250 тисяч гривень, тому ми ще шукаємо спонсорів, які зможуть нам допомогти", – розповів директор музею-садиби Олександр Турський.

Наприкінці екскурсії учасники відвідали музей-аптеку на території садиби, де їм вручили ексклюзивні подарунки – фіточаї за рецептами Пирогова. Їх і надалі планують безкоштовно вручати військовим, інші ж відвідувачі можуть їх придбати, тим паче, що вибір чаїв дуже великий – 23 різновиди.
