General information about Saint Nicholas Church (Sokyrnytsia)

The Church of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker in Sokyrnytsia is one of the oldest wooden churches in Transcarpathia, a bright example of Maramorosh wooden Gothic.

There is a version that the church was originally built in the village of Shashvar, and in 1770, after being moved to Sokyrnytsia, it was reconstructed. In the process of reconstruction, a tall pyramidal tower was built above the babinets, and a bell tower was built nearby.

The iconostasis created in 1748 has been partially preserved. On the walls - a collection of wooden crosses.
