General information about Saint Nicholas Church (House of Organ Music) (Kyiv)
The Church of Saint Nicholas in Kyiv was built by the architect Vladyslav Horodetsky at the beginning of the 20th century on the order of the Catholic community of the city.
Saint Nicholas church became one of the first objects, during the construction of which reinforced concrete was used - a new building material at that time. Two 60-meter towers in the medieval Gothic style are richly decorated with artificial stone sculptures. On the left is a three-story house for the sanctuary.
Since the Soviet times, the Saint Nicholas Church has been used as the National House of Organ and Chamber Music of Ukraine, since 1992 the service has been resumed.
A monument to the great Polish poet Yuliush Slovatskyi was erected near the church in 2012.
Костел Святого Миколая у Києві було збудовано архітектором Владиславом Городецьким на початку XX століття на замовлення католицької громади міста.
Миколаївський костел став одним із перших об'єктів, при будівництві яких використовувався залізобетон - новий на той момент будівельний матеріал. Дві 60-метрові вежі у стилі середньовічної готики багато декоровані скульптурами зі штучного каменю. Зліва розташований триповерховий будинок для причту.
З радянських часів Миколаївський костел використовується як Національний будинок органної та камерної музики України, з 1992 року відновлено богослужіння.
Поруч із костелом у 2012 році встановлено пам'ятник великому польському поетові Юліушу Словацькому.
