General information about People's House (Chortkiv)
The building of the People's House was built in Chortkiv on the eve of the First World War at the expense of the Polish community of the city.
The People's House served as a center for the development of culture and sports - the building had a theater stage and a sports hall. An amateur theater group and a military-sports society "Sokil" operated at the People's House.
Ukrainian actress and singer Kateryna Rubchakova (Kosakivna) took her first steps on the theater stage here. in her name, the Chortkiv district cultural center, which is now housed in the building of the People's House.
A monument to Kateryna Rubchakova is installed in front of the house.
Будівля Народного дому збудована в Чорткові напередодні Першої світової війни коштом польської громади міста.
Народний дім служив центром розвитку культури та спорту – у будівлі була театральна сцена та спортивна зала. При Народному домі діяли аматорський театральний колектив та військово-спортивне товариство "Сокіл".
Тут робила свої перші кроки на театральній сцені українська актриса та співачка Катерина Рубчакова (Косаківна). її ім'ям назвай Чортківський районний будинок культури, який тепер розміщено у будівлі Народного дому.
Перед будинком встановлений пам'ятник Катерині Рубчаковій.
