General information about Memorial Saint Nicolas Church-necropolis of Mykola Pyrohov (Vinnytsia)
The Saint Nicolas memorial church-tomb is part of the National Museum-manor of Mykola Pyrohov. It is located 1.5 kilometers from the Vyshnya estate, in the former village of Sheremitka.
The temple was founded in 1881 as a small chapel above the crypt of Pyrohov. At the insistence of his wife, the body of the eminent surgeon was embalmed by St. Petersburg doctor Davyd Vyvodtsev and placed in a glazed sarcophagus. In 1885, the Saint Nicolas Church was built above the crypt, according to the project of architecture academic Viktor Sychuhov.
During the Second World War, the sarcophagus with Pyrohov's body was buried in the ground, later restoration and re-embalming was required.
Меморіальна Миколаївська церква-усипальниця є частиною Національного музею-садиби Миколи Пирогова. Розташована за 1,5 кілометрів від садиби Вишня, в колишньому селі Шеремітка.
Храм заснований в 1881 році як невелика каплиця над склепом Пирогова. Тіло видатного хірурга за наполяганням його дружини було забальзамовано петербурзьким доктором Давидом Виводцевим і поміщене в заскленому саркофазі. У 1885 році над склепом збудували Миколаївську церкву за проєктом академіка архітектури Віктора Сичугова.
Під час Другої світової війни саркофаг із тілом Пирогова був заритий у землю, згодом знадобилася реставрація та повторне бальзамування.
