Татарбунарський історико-краєзнавчий музей створено в 1949 році як музей Татарбунарського повстання - збройного селянського бунту в Татарбунарах, організованого більшовиками в 1924 році проти румунської влади.

Нині в музеї 8 зал та картинна галерея. Представлено історію заселення краю численними народами, починаючи від кіммерійців, скіфів, половців, татар, турків та закінчуючи задунайськими запорожцями.

Основні теми експозиції: етнографія, Татарбунарське повстання, період Другої світової війни, епоха колгоспів, спортивна слава Татарбунарщини, творчість татарбунарських художників та поетів (зокрема роботи одеського художника Віктора Шарапенка).
