Political Prisoners Historical and Memorial Museum, Ternopil

The Historical and Memorial Museum of Political Prisoners opened in Ternopil in the basement cells of the temporary detention center of the former Ternopil Department of the NKVD-KGB on October 14, 1996.

The museum's exposition tells about the struggle of Ukrainian patriots against the communist regime, the repressive methods of the Soviet special services and the life of convicts in the Gulag camps, and recreates the regime of detention of political prisoners and interrogation methods. Історико-меморіальний музей політичних в'язнів відкрився у Тернополі в підвальних камерах тимчасового ув'язнення колишнього слідчого ізолятора Тернопільського управління НКВС-КДБ 14 жовтня 1996 року.

Експозиція музею розповідає про боротьбу українських патріотів з комуністичним режимом, репресивні методи радянських спецслужб та життя засуджених у таборах ГУЛАГу, відтворює режим утримання політичних в’язнів, методи допитів. Серед експонатів музею - карта СРСР із зазначенням місць розташування спеціальних таборів, стенди життєписів керівників збройного підпілля, речі політв'язнів, фотографії та біографії провідників ОУН і УПА, листівки 1940-1950 років, світлини з унікального фотоархіву УПА, знайденого в 1999 році в Івано-Франківській області, матеріали про репресії ...
