The Rusiv Literary and Memorial Museum of Vasyl Stefanyk was opened in 1947 in the native village of the classic of Ukrainian literature, the master of the expressionist novel.
It was in Rusiv village that Vasyl Stefanyk was born in 1871 in the family of a wealthy peasant, where he went to primary school. Later, he returned to Rusiv with his own family and lived in the family estate for 26 years until his death.
The memorial part of the museum is now located in the four-room house built by Stefanyk with a tin roof on oak foundations. The exhibition consists of numerous household items, interior items, furniture, books, magazines, portraits, photographs and various archival documents. In particular, the interior of Stefanyk's office has been preserved.
The literary exposition is located in a separate room in the center of the village – on the site of the village school where the writer studied. Manuscripts and lifetime editions of Vasyl Stefanyk's works, other materials about his work are presented here.
A monument to Vasyl Stefanyk has been erected on the square near the museum. At the village cemetery, you can visit the grave of the writer and his closest relatives.
