The village of Oleshiv is located in the valley of the Tlumachyk River, 20 kilometers east of Ivano-Frankivsk, on the road to Buchach. It is administratively part of the Ivano-Frankivsk district.
Oleshiv was first mentioned in documents in 1444.
The wooden Church of the Transfer of the Relics of Saint Nicholas was built in 1899 on the site of an old church founded in the 18th century.
Another point of interest in the village is the memorial sign in honor of the defenders of Ukraine in the form of a huge trident, made of stones on the hill above the H-18 highway.
