Dolyna

Dolyna is one of the oldest cities of Prykarpattia, an important industrial center. The city is located 60 kilometers west of Ivano-Frankivsk.

In ancient times, it was famous as a center of salt production. It was mentioned for the first time during the reign of the Polish king Vladyslav Yahaylo. In 1525, the city received Magdeburg rights. Since then, the inhabitants began to regularly extract salt, but the first industrial salt factory appeared only in 1900 - this is a rare example of an industrial architectural monument.

At the end of the Second World War, Dolyna was one of the centers of the insurgent movement of Ukrainian nationalists. In 1952, one of the last UPA bunkers was destroyed here (a memorial was opened).

In the middle of the 20th century, the powerful Dolyna oil field was discovered, after which the city quickly lost its historical appearance, turning into a typical industrial center.

Among the architectural monuments, the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary (1835), the Greek-Catholic Church of the Nativity (1904), a synagogue (XX century), a magistrate's building (XIX century), and several administrative and residential buildings of the XIX - early XX centuries have been preserved.
