On the first day of spring, folklore groups will sing cheerful spring songs, recreate ancient rituals with kolodka and treat people to traditional varenyky with sour cream on the territory of the Pereyaslav open-air museum.
The Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of the Middle Dnieper Region in Pereyaslav invites ethnic lovers to celebrate the holiday of Kolodiy (Masliana) 2025 in the authentic atmosphere of a Ukrainian village. On Saturday, March 1, the event "Kolodiy: Welcoming Spring in Pereyaslav" will be held here, the administration of the National Historical and Ethnographic Reserve "Pereyaslav" reports on its official Facebook page.
"It is at our holiday that you will learn about Kolodiy, the custom of "clinging the kolodka", dance folk dances, become spectators of the "birth of the kolodka" rite, choose a master class to your liking, taste a traditional Ukrainian dish - varenyky with sour cream and have an interesting time with your family. A pillar with gifts awaits the clever ones!" - announce the museum staff.
Musical accompaniment for the holiday will be created by folklore groups:
- Folk folklore ensemble "Hromytsia";
- Amateur folklore group "Mamyna pisnia" and the National Drama Theater;
- Folklore ensemble "Horlytsia";
- Amateur folk group "Korali";
- Amateur vocal group "Yablunevyi tsvit";
- Women's vocal ensemble "Berehynia".
"On this day, we will certainly thank our Defenders and collect donations to bring our victory closer," the reserve adds.
