Grave of Ivan Karpenko-Kary

Monument

The grave of playwright, actor, director and theater figure Ivan Karpenko-Kary (Tobilevych) is located in the cemetery of the village of Korliuhivka near the Tobilevych family estate "Khutir Nadiya".

The founder of Ukrainian professional theater Ivan Karpenko-Kary died on September 2 (15), 1907 after a serious illness in Berlin, where he went for treatment. Later, his body was transported to his homeland and buried at the Korliuhivka cemetery next to other family members.

A tombstone with a bas-relief portrait of Karpenko-Kary was installed on the grave in 1958. A monument of the history of Ukraine of national importance.
