Kapytolivka

The village of Kapytolivka is an eastern suburb of Izium.

It was founded in the 18th century as Morosivka by fellow assessor Vasyl Roslavlev. The village was named Kapytolsk in honor of the landowner Kapitolina Yenokhina, who owned it at the beginning of the 19th century. In 1819-1823, the church of Saint Barbara was built over the grave of Kotlyarevsky's late wife Varvara, daughter of Yenokhina, at the expense of the landowner Yenokhina and her son-in-law Lieutenant General Petro Kotlyarevskyi.

In the middle of the 19th century, the Kapytolivka was owned by the civilian governor of the Katerynoslav province, Nykanor Lonhinov. The writer Petro Hulak-Artemovskyi visited the Lonhinov family on several ...
