The Azov village of Khomutove on the Hruzky Yelanchyk River is located 20 kilometers north of Novoazovsk and the shores of the Sea of Azov.
It was founded in 1820 by the commander-in-chief of the Don Army, Adjutant General Mykhaylo Khomutov. Walking horses for the Don Army became the main specialization of the villagers.
In the north, Khomutove borders the botanical reserve "Khomutove Steppe". The administration of the reserve is located in the village.
