Katsiveli

Katsiveli is a small village between Simeiz and Ponizovka.

The name Katsiveli, which in translation from Genoese means "small fortress", was mentioned as early as the 15th century, when the princes of the principality of Theodoro were building defensive structures on the southern coast of Crimea.

At the beginning of the XX century dacha development began, the Ukraine artist A. Kuinzhi lived here.

In Soviet times, the village developed as a scientific center, here in 1929 the Black Sea Hydrophysical Station was founded, a radio telescope with a parabolic antenna 22 m in diameter, and the storm basin of the Marine Hydrophysical Institute are operating.

В радянські часи селище розвивалося як науковий центр, тут у 1929 році заснована Чорноморська гідрофізична станція, працює радіотелескоп з параболічною антеною діаметром 22 метри, штормовий басейн Морського гідрофізичного інституту.

Функціонує Будинок творчості вчених НАН України, селище розвивається як курорт.
