The village of Burty on the Rosavka River is located 8 kilometers southeast of Kaharlyk. Administratively, it is part of Obukhiv district of Kyiv region.
The village has been known since 1741 as Lychanka. The current name may be related to the common field method of winter storage of vegetables in burts (bulk heaps covered with soil).
As of 1885, the village had a church, a school and two inns. As a result of the Holodomor organized by the Bolsheviks in 1932-1933, 150 residents of the village of Burty died (a commemorative sign was installed at the village cemetery to fellow villagers - victims of the Holodomor).
The Holy Intercession Church was built in 1992-1998.
