Barakhty

The picturesque village of Barakhty is located on the slopes of deep ravines along which the Barakhtyanka River flows, 5 kilometers south of Vasylkiv.

Part of the Snake ramparts passes here - a continuation of the Mytnytsky rampart (Mytnytsia village) of the Stuhna group of earthen fortifications.

The official date of its foundation is 1501, although, according to researchers, the first written mention of it dates back to 1159, when Grand Duke Andriy Yuriyovych transferred Vasylkiv and its surroundings to the Pechersk Lavra. In those days, the village was called Petrychyno (Petrychy). It is not known when it was renamed to Barakhty.

Among local residents, there is a legend about how the carriage of Empress Catherine II got stuck on a washed-out road in the village once, and the servants had to "struggle, flounder" in the mud for a long time until they freed the carriage.

In 1580, Barakhty was already in private ownership, it changed owners several times.

The Archangel Michael Church was rebuilt in 2008 on the site of the Michael Church (1727-1800) destroyed during the Soviet era. At the entrance from the Vasylkiv side, there is an original monument to Soviet pilots who died during the Second World War.

In 2007, the memorial complex "To Victims of the Holodomor of 1932-1933" was opened.

Тут проходить частина Змієвих валів - продовження Митницького валу (село Митниця) Стугнинської групи земляних укріплень.

Храм Архістратига Михаїла відбудований в 2008 році на місці знищеної в радянські часи Михайлівської церкви (1727-1800 роки). На в'їзді з боку Василькова встановлено оригінальний пам'ятник радянським льотчикам, які загинули під час Другої світової війни.

В 2007 році відкрито меморіальний комплекс "Жертвам Голодомору 1932-1933 років".
