Pyatnychany

The ancient village of Pyatnychany on the Boberka River is located 10 kilometers south of Bibrka, on the route N-09 "Lviv - Ivano-Frankivsk".

It has been known since the 15th century as the property of the Polish king Vladyslav II Yahaylo, although it is possible that the settlement existed even in the time of the prince. There are many legends and scientific versions about the origin of the name of the village: from the surname of the founder, from the name of the Slavic goddess of spring water Pyatnitsa, from the name of the monastery of Saint Paraskeva-Pyatnitsa, which supposedly exists here, and others. Popular rumor claims that Pyatnychany appeared on the site of the monastery field.

A monument of medieval defensive architecture is the Pyatnychany Tower - part of the castle built in the middle of the 15th century, when the village was owned by Petro Vnuchek. Since 1574, Pyatnychany was owned by the Venhlynsky family. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the village changed hands several times in the hands of various tycoons. In 1830, the landowner Avhust Chaykovsky built a two-story manor house in the classical style on the northern edge of the village.

The existing Pyatnychany church of Saint Paraskeva was built in 1906 instead of the wooden one known since 1739.

В 1830 році поміщик Август Чайковський побудував на північній околиці села двоповерховий садибний будинок в класичному стилі.

Існуюча нині П'ятничанська церква Святої Параскеви збудована в 1906 році замість дерев'яної, відомої з 1739 року.
