Saint Nicholas Church

Temple , Architecture

The Church of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker in Pryslip resembles the wooden church in Torun in shape, but it is much larger and more slender, with a delicate pattern of the silhouette of the tower and graceful lines.

The temple is surrounded on three sides by an arcade on high carved figured pillars. They are repeated in a reduced size in the bypass arcade.

The two-tiered belfry with a wide canopy of apprehension and an arcade on the second tier, where the bells are placed, is covered with an octagonal tented roof. The forms of the bell tower are much older than the forms of the temple itself and contrast sharply with it.

Decorative carvings of the 18th century in the baroque style of a local master, as well as individual works of easel tempera painting of the 16th and 17th centuries, have been preserved in the interior.

Saint Nicholas Church is active, restored in 1968. It is considered a masterpiece of Baroque Verkhovyna wooden architecture.
