General information about Vorokhta
Vorokhta is a famous low-altitude (850 meters above sea level) ski resort above the Prut River between Yaremche and Verkhovyna.
Vorokhta was founded in the 17th century as a settlement of Mykulychyn, located further down the river.
The construction of the Stanislaviv - Yaremcha - Vorokhta - Rakhiv railway in 1894 gave a great impetus to development, the viaducts of which are still in use. Vorokhta began to turn into a center of winter sports in Austrian times, when servicemen of the 9th Corps took a sledding course here.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the first shelter for tourists and a restaurant appeared. Now there are many camping sites, boarding houses, and private cottages. On the territory of the ski complex "Avangard", built in Soviet times, there are ski jumps, one of which is summer. There are lifts and other ski infrastructure. One of the tourist routes to Hoverla starts from here.
The monument is the wooden Christmas church (1615), one of the best examples of the Hutsul school of folk architecture. In 1780, it was transferred to Vorokhta from Yablunytsia.

Mount Hoverla

Hoverla is the highest peak of Ukraine (2061 meters), one of the national symbols.
It is located on the border of the Ivano-Frankivsk and Transcarpathian regions, belongs to the Chornohora mountain massif.
Translated from Hungarian, the name means "Snow Mountain" (snow on the top often lies until mid-summer). The mountain has a cone-shaped shape, covered with alpine meadows, shrub wastelands, stone screes occur. The top is a small platform, from which a panoramic view of the entire Chornohora ridge opens, and in the distance the Marmarosh ridge, which runs along the border with Romania, can be seen. A huge cross is installed on the top. At the foot is one of the sources of the Prut River, a waterfall.
Mount Hoverla is located within the protected zone of the Carpathian State National Park. The easiest route to the top of Hoverla starts from the "Zaroslyak" camp. Another option is from the village of Lazeshchyna (near Yasinia). The route is marked, in summer the ascent is accessible to untrained tourists and does not require special mountaineering equipment. Registration with the control and rescue service is required. The ascent takes 2-3 hours, the descent takes an hour and a half.

Arch bridge-viaduct

A large stone arch railway bridge-viaduct from Austrian times connects the two banks of the Prut River in Vorokhta. The Yaremche-Verkhovyna highway passes under it.
The bridge was built in 1895 during the construction of the railway Stanislav (Ivano-Frankivsk) – Yaremche – Vorokhta – Rakhiv. The length of the bridge exceeds 100 meters. It is still used as intended.
Nearby is another old Austrian bridge, which is considered one of the longest stone railway bridges in Europe (130 meters).

Historical and Local Lore Museum

The Historical and Local Lore Museum of Vorokhta village was opened in 2006 in the premises of the House of Culture.
The museum is dedicated to Ukrainian politician, Minister of Finance of the Ukrainian People's Republic Stepan Fedak, whose life is connected with Vorokhta.
The exposition tells about the origin of the settlement, about the liberation movement in these regions in different periods. Materials on the development of the forest industry, sports and tourism industry, biographies of prominent Vorokhta natives, etc. are also presented.

Nativity of the Holy Virgin Church

The wooden church of the Nativity of the Holy Virgin in Vorokhta is one of the best examples of Hutsul folk architecture.
It was built according to traditional technologies without a single nail in 1654-1657 in the nearby village of Yablunytsia. The church was moved to its current location in 1780.
Fragments of 19th century wall paintings have been preserved in the interiors.
Nearby is a two-story wooden bell tower, which housed the exposition of the church museum.
In 1979, the church was restored by architects Bohdan Kindzelskyi, Hryhoriy Kruk, and Ivan Mohytych.

Nesamovyte Lake

The picturesque high-altitude lake Nesamovyte (1750 meters) is located under the peak of Turkul near the Chornohora Range on the territory of the Hoverla Reserve.
The length is 83 meters, the width is 45 meters, the depth is 1.5 meters, the area of the water mirror is 0.3 hectares. It is of glacial origin, fed by groundwater and atmospheric precipitation.
According to local legend, the souls of great sinners and suicides languish at the bottom of the lake, which is where the name comes from ("nesamovyte" means "crazy" in Ukrainian).
The surrounding area is an unusual corner of untouched alpine nature. A 6-kilometer scientific trail has been laid from the "Zaroslyak" camp to the lake.
