Horenka

The picturesque village of Horenka is a northern suburb of Kyiv bordering Pushcha-Vodytsia.

Known since 1552 as Horivka, since 1778 as Horyanka. The name comes from the hills from which the two branches of the Horenka River originate.

In the summer, vacationers from the capital are attracted by ponds on the river and a flooded clay quarry, the blue lake, on the shore of which a recreation area is organized. The lake is popular with divers.

Nearby is a poppy field, which is a popular photo location in the summer. Some episodes of the TV series "Bourzhoi's Birthday" and "Swati" were filmed in Horenka. The house from "Svaty" was a peculiar landmark of the village.
