General information about Salohubivka

The village of Salohubivka on the Rashivka River is located 10 kilometers northwest of Romny. Administratively, it is part of the Romensky hromada of the Romensky district of the Sumy region.

According to some sources, the village was founded at the end of the 18th century. It most likely got its name from the surname of the first settler, the Cossack Salohub. This surname is found in documents from the 16th century.

The village suffered as a result of the genocide of the Ukrainian people carried out by the Soviet government in 1923-1933 and 1946-1947.

A monument to the Soviet military intelligence officer Kuzma Hnidash, who was born in Salohubivka in 1914, has been erected.
