Borsuky

The ancient Podillia village Borsuky is located near the sources of the Kodyma River, 20 kilometers northeast of Balta. Administratively, it is part of the Balta hromada of the Podilsk district of the Odesa region.

The village Borsuky was first mentioned in 1756. Its name is associated with the large number of badgers that once lived in the local forests. The wooden church of Saint Dmitry from the 18th century has not survived.

The village has also long preserved the recipe for Borsuky ritual porridge, which is prepared for holidays from millet, rice, cabbage and lard in milk.
