Yerky

The village of Yerky is located among ravines ("Yerkas") at the confluence of the Shpolka River with the Hnyliy Tikych. It is located 10 kilometers south of Zvenyhorodka.

It was founded at the beginning of the 18th century by immigrants from Polisya and Podillya. The name of the village of Zaliznyachka, where iron has been mined and processed since ancient times, tells about the main occupation of local residents.

The development of the village in the second half of the 19th century was connected with the construction of the "Zvenyhorodka" station of the Uman branch of the South-Western Railway on its land. From 1866 to 1923, Yerky was the center of Yerky Volost.

Засноване на початку XVIII сторіччя переселенцями з Полісся та Поділля. Про основне заняття місцевих жителів говорить назва присілка Залізнячка, де здавна добували та обробляли залізо.

Розвиток селища в другій половині XIX століття пов'язаний з будівництвом на його землях станції "Звенигородка" Уманської гілки Південно-Західної залізниці. З 1866 по 1923 рік Єрки були центром Єрківської волості.
