Zhurzhyntsi

The village of Zhurzhyntsi is located 10 kilometers northeast of Lysianka.

It was first mentioned in 1480 as Dzhurzhyntsi, a fiefdom of the Bahlay family. The name is probably related to the location on a wooded hill with many bubbling springs.

Remains of Scythian barrows and fragments of the Serpent ramparts, which played the role of local fortifications, have been preserved near the village.

The first wooden church was built in 1730. In 1832, at the expense of the landowner Vasyl Protopopov, the stone church of the Nativity of the Holy Virgin was built in the style of classicism, which has survived to this day.
