Hubyn

The ancient village of Hubyn on the banks of the Sluch River is located 25 kilometers east of Starokostiantyniv, near Samchyky. Highway N-03 "Zhytomyr - Khmelnytskyi" passes near the village.

Hubyn has been known since 1204 as one of the largest cities of the Bolokhiv land (one of the regions of the Old Rus state). In 1241, the Bolokhiv princes took part in the unsuccessful campaign of the Galician prince Rostyslav Mykhaylovych to Bakota - the most important political and administrative center of the Dniester Ponizy, which was part of the Galicia-Volyn principality. Hubyn has been known since 1204 as one of the largest cities of the Bolokhiv land (one of the regions of the Old Rus state). In 1241, the Bolokhiv princes took part in the unsuccessful campaign of the Galician prince Rostyslav Mykhaylovych to Bakota - the most important political and administrative center of the Dniester Ponizy, which was part of the Galicia-Volyn principality. For this, Prince Danylo Halytskyi from 1241 to 1255 captured and destroyed most of the towns of Bolokhiv, and annexed these lands to the Principality of Galicia-Volyn.

For many years, the staff of the Kamyanets-Podilskyi State University have been conducting archaeological research on the site of the Hubyn hillfort. All finds from the excavations were transferred to the Starokostiantyniv Museum of History and Local History for permanent storage.

In 2004, the celebration of the 800th anniversary of Lytopisny Hubyn took place.
