Holovchyntsi

The village of Holovchyntsi is located on the banks of the Pivdeniy Buh, 5 kilometers from Medzhybizh, next to the Vinnytsia-Khmelnytskyi highway.

At the beginning of the 16th century, the crown hetman Mykola Senyavskyi built the fortress "Rakochi", which existed for about 30 years and was destroyed in 1566 during the invasion of the Crimean Tatars (the ramparts are well preserved, excavations are underway). At the same time, the Savior and Transfiguration Convent, which is still active, was founded. The wooden church of the Intercession was built in 1750. Metropolitan Volodymyr (Sabodan) of Kyiv and All Ukraine, Primate of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate hails from these places.

В цей же час був заснований Спасо-Преображенський жіночий монастир, нині діючий. Дерев'яна церква Покрови збудована в 1750 році. З цих місць родом Митрополит Київський і всієї України, предстоятель УПЦ Московського Патріархату Володимир (Сабодан).

На березі водосховища в радянські часи створена рекреаційна зона, є сучасні бази відпочинку.
