In order to remove the heavy bronze sculpture from the pedestal, the specialists of KP "Kyivblagoustrii" had to partially block traffic for several hours at the intersection of Symon Petlyura Street and Taras Shevchenko Boulevard.

After long public discussions, a monument to the Soviet military and political figure Mykola Shchors, who is responsible for the Bolshevik war crimes against the civilian population of the Ukrainian capital, was dismantled in Kyiv. This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration with reference to the director of the Department of Territorial Control of the City of Kyiv Mykhailo Budilov.

"De-Russification and decommunization continues. We have already dismantled more than 60 monuments related to the history and culture of Russia and the USSR. We are currently working on objects from which the government removed the protection status. In November, the monument to Alexander Pushkin was removed, today the dismantling of the complex structure of the monument to Mykola Shchors took place. With the cooperation of the capital authorities, the Ministry of Culture and the public, very soon we will achieve a common and such a desirable goal," stressed Mykhailo Budilov.

He added that the team of specialists of KP "Kyivblagoustrii" worked on dismantling the heavy, about 7-ton construction for 6 hours. These are technically complex works, for which various heavy equipment was involved and it was necessary to partially block traffic on both directions of Taras Shevchenko Boulevard. Dismantling took place in the morning on a weekend so as not to paralyze traffic on the city's central streets. The monument will be kept in the State Aviation Museum named after Oleh Antonov.

We will remind that the Cabinet of Ministers recently decided to remove from the State Register of immovable monuments of cultural heritage of national importance monuments to some Russian and Soviet figures, which allowed to start the process of their dismantling.

Mykola Shchors not only took an active part in the hostilities against Ukrainian troops in 1918-1919, but also held the post of military commandant of the city of Kyiv during the period of Bolshevik terror.

Після тривалих суспільних дискусій у Києві було демонтовано пам'ятник радянському військовому та політичному діячеві Миколі Щорсу, що несе відповідальність за воєнні злочини більшовиків проти цивільного населення української столиці. Про це повідомила пресслужба Київської міської державної адміністрації з посиланням на директора Департаменту територіального контролю міста Києва Михайла Буділова.

"Дерусифікація та декомунізація триває. Ми вже демонтували понад 60 пам’яток, пов'язаних з історією і культурою Росії та СРСР. Зараз  працюємо над об’єктами, з яких уряд зняв охоронний статус. У листопаді прибрали пам'ятник Олександру Пушкіну, сьогодні відбувся демонтаж складної конструкції пам’ятника Миколі Щорсу. У співпраці столичної влади, Міністерства культури та громадськості дуже скоро ми досягнемо спільної та такої бажаної мети", – наголосив Михайло Буділов.

Він додав, що бригада фахівців КП "Київблагоустрій" працювала над демонтажем важкої, близько 7-тонної, конструкції протягом 6 годин. Це технічно складні роботи, для яких було залучено різну важку техніку та довелось частково перекрити рух транспорту на обох напрямках бульвару Тараса Шевченка. Демонтаж відбувався зранку у вихідний день, щоб не паралізувати рух центральними вулицями міста. Монумент буде зберігатись у Державному музеї авіації України імені Олега Антонова.

Нагадаємо, що нещодавно Кабінет міністрів ухвалив рішення про вилучення з Державного реєстру нерухомих пам’яток культурної спадщини національного значення пам’ятників деяким російським і радянським діячам, що дозволило запустити процеси їхнього демонтажу.

Варто відзначити, що Микола Щорс не тільки брав активну участь у бойових діях проти українських військ у 1918-1919 роках, а й обіймав посаду військового коменданта міста Києва в період більшовицького терору.
