Founded in 1892 on the initiative and at the expense of the honorary citizen of Pavlohrad Yakiv Holubytskyi. At the beginning of the 20th century, there was a library at the cathedral. In 1960, the Saviour's Cathedral was finally closed and converted into a gymnasium.
