General information about Drohobych Imperial-Royal Gymnasium named after Frants Yosyf I (Drohobych)
Drohobych imperial-royal gymnasium named after Frants Yosyf I was opened in Drohobych in the middle of the 19th century.
In 1867-1875, the future writer Ivan Franko studied here (a commemorative plaque was installed).
In 1896, the gymnasium was moved to a new three-story building, and the Queen Yadviha Girls' Gymnasium was located in this building.
Now the former building of the gymnasium is occupied by the Faculty of Philology of the Drohobych Pedagogical University. Adjacent to the building is the university park, in which a monument to Adam Mitskevych was erected back in 1894 (the sculpture was restored after the Second World War).
Дрогобицька цісарсько-королівська гімназія імені Франца Йосифа I відкрита в Дрогобичі в середині ХІХ століття.
У 1867-1875 роках тут навчався майбутній письменник Іван Франко (встановлена пам'ятна табличка).
У 1896 році гімназію перевели до нового триповерхового приміщення, а в цій будівлі розмістилася жіноча гімназія імені Королеви Ядвіги.
Зараз колишню будівлю гімназії займає Філологічний факультет Дрогобицького педагогічного університету. До будівлі примикає університетський парк, у якому ще в 1894 році було встановлено пам'ятник Адамові Міцкевичу (скульптура відновлена після Другої світової війни).
