Храм у стилі класицизму побудований на місці першої православної церкви Проскурова, заснованої у XVIII сторіччі, яка згоріла і 1822 році. Головною святинею була чудотворна ікона Божої Матері зі срібним вінцем.

В 1937 році собор було закрито, приміщення використовувалося як склад. Нині храм чинний, належить УПЦ московського патріархату.
