Svobody Avenue (Liberty Avenue) is the city's central street, the most elegant and prestigious in Lviv.

The marble statue was erected at the expense of Countess Severina Badeni in 1861, moved to its current location in 1904, restored in 1997. In 1905, a monument to Adam Mitskevych - a Polish poetic luminary - was erected. The historic building of the George Hotel is also located on the square.
