Monument to the Battle of Zhovti Vody

Monument

The monument at the end of the Battle of Zhovti Vody was erected in the village of Zhovtooleksandrivka for the 350th anniversary of the beginning of the Liberation War.

At this place, next to the tract of Knyazhi Bayraky, in 1648 the Cossack troops of Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, with the support of the Crimean Tatars Tuhay Bey, finally defeated the retreating Polish army, which became the first major victory of the Ukrainian people's War of Liberation.

On one of the two granite blocks, the coat of arms of Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytskyi is engraved, on the other - the coat of arms of the Crimean Tatar family Hirey.
