The church of Blessed Yacub Strepa was founded in Staryi Skalat in 1910. The construction of the church in the neo-Romanesque style was completed in 1912.
In Soviet times, the building was used as a warehouse. The shrine was restored after Ukraine gained Independence in 1995-1997.

The memorial museum-house of Les Kurbas is located in the village of Stariy Skalat, where the memorial house of his grandfather, priest Pylyp Kurbas, has been preserved.
The childhood and youth years of the future outstanding Ukrainian director passed here.
Near the church where Pylyp Kurbas served, relatives of Lesya Kurbas are buried: grandfather and grandmother, father, younger brother Nestor.

The Greek-Catholic Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian, the great martyrs and penitents in Staryi Skalat, was built in 1643 on the hill above the center of the village.
