Kostyantynivsky Coal Mine

The Kostyantynivsky coal mine is one of the two "graveyards of excavators" in the Oleksandriia area, where you could see unique mining equipment.

The Kostyantynivsky quarry is located in the village of Berezivka, north of Oleksandriia . This is the youngest coal section of the "Oleksandriiaugugil" HCC - put into operation in 1987. In the best times, more than a million tons of coal were mined here a year. Until recently, the Kostyantynivsky cut remained the only active coal mining enterprise of the Oleksandrivskyi lignite complex, but since 2010 it has been inactive and the pit is gradually being filled with groundwater.

Here you could see a preserved 16-bucket rotary excavator ERSHRD-5250 weighing 4,100 tons, over 30 meters high with a summer conveyor length of 190 meters. The German multi-bucket TAKRAF chain excavator was also available for inspection.

Currently, the Kostyantynivskyi coal mine is a pit flooded with groundwater with an island in the middle.
