Saint Nicholas Estate

Entertainment / leisure , Museum / gallery

The Saint Nicholas Estate in the village of Pistyn near Kosiv is the "official residence" of the patron saint of children, one of the most beloved and respected saints in Ukraine, whose holiday is celebrated on December 19, on the eve of the New Year. According to the tradition of this day, all children receive gifts from Saint Nicholas.

In 2003, on the territory of the Hutsulshchyna National Nature Park, the implementation of the project "Estate of Saint Nicholas" began, which received official status after the corresponding decree of the President of Ukraine.

In the house of Saint Nicholas, made in the traditional Carpathian style, children and adults can visit the exhibition of New Year's and Christmas toys, work in a master class and, of course, meet Saint Nicholas himself.

For the convenience of people with disabilities, a barrier-free space has been arranged on the territory of the manor, which includes a level paved area, ramps at the entrance, an inclusive restroom, etc.

The manor works all year round. Meeting with Saint Nicholas - by prior request.

Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary Church

Temple , Architecture

The wooden five-log church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was built in 1600 on a hill on the right bank of the Pistyn River in the western part of the village, near Sheshory.

It is considered the oldest Hutsul temple, but in some reference books the date of construction is 1858. Local residents also call this church "Horishnya", i.e. "upper". To protect against Tatar raids, the temple was surrounded by a rampart and stone walls, the remains of which have been preserved to this day.

The Horishnya church is well preserved, but its authentic appearance is spoiled by the galvanized iron coating. There is a stone belfry (XVIII century) near the Assumption Church.

UPA Kryivka-Museum

Museum / gallery

The UPA Kryivka-Museum on the outskirts of Pistyn village was opened in 2015 on the Fatherland Fatherland Day on the feast of the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God on the initiative of the local community and with the support of the Kuty Forestry State Enterprise.

It was at this place that the Kosiv foresters found the remains of an underground shelter of soldiers of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) with an archive of documents that tell about the armed struggle of Kosoiv rebels against the Soviet invaders in 1946-1951.

The museum complex consists of three kryivkas (hideouts), reconstructed in their original form (residential kryivka, armory hideout, hospital kryivka), between which the tourist route "Paths of the UPA's Battle Glory" is laid. Information stands introduce the history of the creation of the complex and the main milestones of the formation and activity of the UPA in the territory of the Kosiv district.

Near the UPA Kryivka-Museum, the infrastructure of a recreation area with the possibility of camping has been arranged.
